QUOTES TO PONDER

“BEARING THE IMAGE OF GOD IN OURSELVES,

ALL OF US ARE CONSEQUENTLY THE IMAGE

 OF EACH OTHER.TOGETHER WE CONSTITUTE

THE IMAGE OF ONE PORTRAIT, THAT OF GOD”

                                                                                    ST. FRANCIS DE SALES

When I read this quote I had to sit and really think about it, reading it over and over. (I was tempted to nix it!) My first thought was of visualizing a framed picture with the image of me portraying God (just go with me on this!). I asked myself, “What would the picture convey?”

  1. Would it be “staged” just looking into the camera with maybe a slight smile or showing no emotion?
  2. Would it be me with a giant smile obviously laughing?
  3. Would it be me behind others to hide the “real” me?
  4. Would I look like I was caught off guard with a look of disgust on my face?

Number two is the choice of the image of God I want others to see. Obviously, I can’t hold that image all the time or my cheeks would freeze up and fall off! (Now isn’t that an image!) I so want others to see the joy the Lord has brought into my life. It is a joy that is meant to be shared. Hopefully, you have been able to see the Lord’s image in my writings or when I speak about Him.

I am told, by those who knew my mother, that I look so much like her. I consider that a wonderful compliment. Along those same lines I pray that those with whom I come in contact with can tell Whose I am, that they see my Heavenly Father in me. I, too, want to look around and see my brothers and sisters in Christ who bear His resemblance as well!

“God created man in his image; in the divine image

he created him.; male and female he created them.”       Genesis 1:27
